Week 6
Oceanside Harbor
For this week, we were assigned to photograph our long-term location applying an object into our photograph to give a new meaning to our environment or offer a different perspective. This assignment felt experimental to me, and I had a lot of fun playing with light and forms of seeing. My object was a clear transparent prism and diamond. Although it did not come out the way I had envisioned in my mind it was still cool to play around with the objects. In some images you can see reflections of people and the grass. It is sort of disorientating, but I found it to be alot more interesting and sort of sparks some curiosity upon viewing. I also go the chance to experience my environment with a telephoto lens and I got some close shots of crabs and flora. Additionally, the weather was great and sunny. I went around 4 on a Thursday. There were a few families and people hanging around and it was little busier than usual, which I enjoyed to people watch and enjoy this beautiful environment. I also took the opportunity to play around with my editing style and use more vibrant reddish hues in my photographs. I added a bit of grain and white vignette to the images to portray them as a experimental film aesthetic to amuse me.
